Knitting and crochet blog week, day 1 / Semaine du tricot et du crochet sur les blogs, 1e jour !

Cette année j'ai décidé de participer à la "knitting and crochet blog weeek" lancée par Eskimimi et relayée en France par Gaëlle (KnitSpirit). Pour celles qui voudraient participer, il est encore temps, les infos en français sont ici !

Pour le premier jour, le thème est : l'histoire de deux fils à tricoter.

Hmm, voyons voir. J'ai commencé à tricoter "sérieusement" avec les fils Fonty découverts chez Elodie du temps où elle avait encore une boutique physique, à Amiens. J'y ai également fait connaissance avec d'autres filateurs, notamment Plassard, Filatura di Crosa ou Schachenmayr. Dans le même temps, j'ai commandé aussi des fils outre-Atlantique et outre-Manche, notamment du fil à chaussettes. J'ai tendance à partir en courant dans l'autre sens quand on me dit d'une chose qu'il FAUT l'essayer, donc je n'ai toujours pas testé les fils "stars" type Malabrigo, Holst Garn, Cascade ou Noro, pour l'instant je survis sans aucun problème ainsi, on verra bien si ça change. Idem pour La Droguerie d'ailleurs, la dernière fois que je suis rentrée dans une boutique j'ai fait un malaise, donc je n'ai plus jamais retenté l'expérience. De tout ce que j'ai tricoté jusqu'à présent, je crois que mon fil préféré est un Filatura di Crosa, j'aurais beaucoup de mal à choisir entre la Wave (laine et soie), la Porto Cervo (coton épais) ou l'Andina (alpaga). Ce sont des fils assez épais (en 4 ou 5), donc ça monte vite et ça c'est déjà un bon point pour l'impatiente que je suis. Ils sont vraiment très agréables à tricoter, tiennent bien, passent en machine (je ne sais pas combien de fois j'ai déjà lavé mon Lady February Sweater et j'utilise la Wave pour la layette, pour cette même raison).

Quant à un fil que je n'aime pas, je dirais sans aucune hésitation "Phildar et BDF en général, Phildar Loisirs en particulier". Ce dernier est un acrylique dont j'avais hérité de je ne sais où, super fin, qui m'a tué les mains quand j'ai essayé de le recycler en pouf et dont j'ai finalement envoyé tous les restes à Myriam, pour qu'ils servent à une bonne cause !

Anyway, here is my first post for the Knitting and Crochet blog week.

Today's topic is "a tale of two yarns". Well, I must admit that I tend to be a non-fashionista about everything in life so when I see all the knitting bloggers knitting the same yarns as if there were only those ones, I just don't feel like testing them anymore, which explains I have never knit any Malabrigo, Cascade, Noro, younameit, so far. Another thing I have to say is that in France and neighbouring countries, we have plenty of good yarn-makers, not as famous and trendy as some others, but who still make very good yarn, quite affordable and which allow very good knitting results. So if I had to choose I would definitely pick one from Filatura di Crosa, an Italian brand. Then, the choice would be very difficult, because I especially love three qualities from these brand: Andina (alpaca), Wave (wool + silk) and Porto Cervo (cotton). Not only do they knit well, with a wonderful touch, but also you can machine-wash them, which is for me an undeniable advantage, be it only because I tend to use Wave for baby knits! ;)

Concerning a yarn I hate, well I do have to admit that French yarns can be very poor also from times to times, especially the ones by Phildar and Bergère de France (this is my opinion but I just hate them, if you look at the labels, the skeins are very short, there is between 50% and 80% of acrylic, and these yarns are quite expensive!). I had a stash of them left from "don't know there" so I ended up sending it to a preemies-knitting charity (preemies being very fragile, acrylic is in fact the best yarn for them) and I assume these yarns will at least find some utility between the fingers of the ladies from the charity!
